Marking the 27th anniversary of the transfer from the Institut Keguruan and Ilmu Pendidikan (IKIP) of Teacher Education of the Republic of Indonesia (PGRI) to Universitas PGRI Yogyakarta (UPY), Tuesday (25/06/2024) the inauguration of the new campus in Sonosewu, Kasihan, Bantul was held.
The inauguration was carried out by Dr. Ir Paiman MP (Rector of UPY), Armansyah Prasakti SH MH (Chairman of the UPY Trustees Foundation), Drs John Sabari MSi (Daily Chairman of the UPY Trustees Foundation) with ribbon cutting, tumpeng and symbolic handover of building keys. Armansyah Prasakti said that the transformation of IKIP PGRI into UPY is always commemorated.
“The 27th anniversary of the transformation is commemorated with the inauguration of UPY Campus 4. The new 8-story campus is for the Faculty of Science and Technology. Hopefully in the future, UPY will have a campus 5 Faculty of Medicine and Public Health,” he said.
Armansyah Prasakti explained that IKIP PGRI used to have 4 study programs, namely History Study Program, Counseling Guidance Study Program, Civics Study Program and Mathematics Study Program. Now, UPY has four faculties, namely Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Faculty of Agriculture (FP), Faculty of Business and Law (FBH), Faculty of Science and Technology (FST). “Four faculties with 29 study programs. This June, one more study program will be added, Master of Management. So for S1 and S2, by 2024 we will have 30 study programs,” he said.
